We enjoyed spending our 4th anniversary and New Years with the "gang". Good food, good football (War Eagle!!!), good friends and good times.
We stayed at The Wharf in Orange Beach and it was very nice. Shops, restaurants, movie theaters and even a ferris wheel - all within walking distance of our rooms. We didn't get to all stay in one unit-2 couples to a unit. But that turned out OK - we roomed with the Hooks.
View from the back balcony of boats docked at the wharf in the intercoastal waterway.
Thursday morning we all had breakfast at Tacky Jack's - was an ok meal. Lots of atmosphere, we ate outside and viewed the bay.
Waiting on our wonderful breakfast - we were all starving by the time we finally got served!
While Gene and Wayne went to play golf and the rest of us went to the outlets - Foley Outlets, of course. We all found some great deals and spent some 'quality time' and $'s while we were there. They even had a Starbucks - hot chocolate was so good in that cold weather!
Jimmy and I had a nice surprise - we ran into my cousin Renee and her husband Mitch at the Tanner's Pecan and Gift store. It was so nice to see them, it has been several years since we last saw each other. We caught up on children and grandbabies! They live in Elberta, which she says is only about 5 miles from Foley. Lucky them-they can shop the outlets anytime they want!
Pam and Betty modeling the cute jackets they found at the Nautica outlet.
Betty brought each girl a darling AU wine glass - each was painted with Aubie's face and orange and blue dots-so cute! Here we are posing with them.
Gene decorated their unit's back balcony with orange, blue and white lights! War Eagle!
That night we ate at the Original Oyster House and we all enjoyed some great food.

(notice Gene's Hook em Horns sign!)
Food was very good here!
Later we enjoyed fireworks and music and the ferris wheel at The Wharf:
The view from below our front balcony-crowd for the kareoke and a DJ.
Betty and Gene waiting for midnight. You can see the ferris wheel behind them. The Codys, Hooks and Meltons were the brave ones to ride the big wheel.
Looking out of our seat on the ferris wheel, the Rave theater. So high up- very scary to me! I thought the ride took fo-ev-ah!
Over at last!!!
The fireworks were so beautiful and right across the street from our balcony, at our eye level!
On Friday, game day, we all gathered at the unit where the Codys and Carrolls stayed. Pam cooked black eyed peas and a boston butt, Barry boiled fresh shrimp, Betty made a wonderful salad and we had dessert left over from the Oyster House, key lime pie. My contribution was to wash dishes and clean up.

Watching that game - we won it at least 4 times!!! Of course, all of the girls were yelling at the tv and the refs and the guys! :) Wayne and Barry thought we were so funny!
The guys wearing the shirts Jimmy got for the trip - the number 4 stands for our 4 year anniversary - ain't he romantic!
Before we left for good, we met the Hooks at the Pancake House (inside one of the hotels) on the beach. This was the first time we had seen the beach since we got there! We were freezing - I can't tell how cold it was - just unreal!!!
Coming home we stopped again at the outlets and then again in Atmore, we drove through the casino, Wind Creek. Boy, we were so tired when we got home!
