Still Catching Up!

August-
6th- Atlanta with Mondene-y

We took a last minute trip with Mondene to Atl. to watch the Braves retire Tom Glavin's number. First stop was CNN to buy tshirts to commemorate the event. Wish we had stayed there to eat - its kind of like a food court deal/ shopping mall area with CNN being filmed upstairs. But we didn't - we hurried to the baseball field to take a tour of the stadium. Butttttttt - they canceled the tour that day because of all the Glavin events going on around town. Butttttt - they didn't tell anybody it would be canceled. So there we were, 4 hours before the game and 3 hours before the gates would open!!! and it was hotter n' hell outside. and we were hungry!!!!! We weren't the only ones that were uninformed - several groups of kids and dads were in the same boat.
Also, nothing around but a bar to go eat - so we went there. Food not so good - a bar, remember? But Mondene and Jimmy got to see Noel Malzone (former Braves pitching coach) come in for some beers and Jimmy got his autograph. Yey! Anyway, after eating we walked back to the car (right across the street from the stadium) to wait til the gates opened. Lo and behold, the bottom fell out and it poured for about 45 min.!!! A river was running beside the car - no lie. Just before they opened the gates, it let up and we went inside. We sat near our seats for the Greg Maddux number retirement and the seats were just enough under the overhang for us to stay dry. Here are some of the photos Jimmy took:

15th: Fan Day @ Auburn:

What a disaster!! Hotter n' blazes and AU had the Arena under lock down! We were so disappointed. Got in on the ground floor where Jimmy bought an autographed copy of Chet Williams' Hard Fighting Soldier. From then on nothing but sweat and tears. We never could get to the players and coaches - only one way in - crazy, just crazy!! and all other entrances were either locked or under guard. Never again!!! Very poor planning on someone's part!

19th: Talya promoted to Accounting Supervisor!!!

So excited and proud of & for her! She deserves it!!!

20th: Celebration of Promotion

We met the kids @ Logan's in Prattville to celebrate Talya's new promotion.
Enjoyed the company (girls were so good and well mannered) and the food was GREAT!!! Congratulations Talya!!!

22nd - Ruth's 91st birthday party @ Elmwood

Everyone gathered to celebrate another year for Ruth. She seemed in good spirits, just a little tired. Word is she has had some bad times of forgetfulness lately. Good to see everyone.

27th - Rush of Fools @ the Biscuits

It was very cloudy but it didn't rain this time. The concert was before the game, so the crowd wasn't so big. But, the band did good and Mary was proud of her baby boy! :)
